Hematology – Oncology Telemedicine Program:
Medical students/graduates will be using applications like Zoom for patient interaction. All students have to protect the health information of the patient to maintain HIPAA compliance.
Rotation details:
- Medical students/graduates will get a chance to interact with patients through Telemedicine. Students have to take a detailed history and enter notes on their laptop/computer.
- All rotating students will be given orientation on how to interact and take a detailed history of the patients.
- Only those students who will be working at the office will be given access to the EMR. Those students who don’t have access to the EMR have to take a much detailed history to get a complete picture of the patient’s diagnosis and management.
- This will help the medical students/graduates in developing their questioning skills with minimal handed information as in a simulated Step 2 CS exam.
- Every patient encounter will be followed by presenting the case to Dr. Khillan and discussing the patient management.
- Each student will interact with 5-7 patients/day.
- Every friday, each student will present 1 case or topic to the entire team followed by case discussion.
- Office hours will be 9:00 am to 5:00 pm ET Time (New York Time) and can be accessible from any part of the world.
- Letter of recommendation will be issued on Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center’s letterhead based on the merit of the individual.
Requirements/Expectations from the student:
- Access to high speed internet and devices like iPad/phones for using software apps like Zoom etc
- Availability during the regular office hours 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Eastern time)
- Professional dress and appearance
- Quiet work space at the remote location with no background disturbance

- Valid Passport
- Proof of being in medical school / medical school graduation certificate
- USMLE STEP scores (if given)
- HIPAA certificate
- Infection control certificate
