RHEUMATOLOGY
TELE-MEDICINE ROTATION (RHT2)
Rheumatology Telemedicine Program:
Medical students/graduates will be using applications like MightyCall / Microsoft Teams / Zoom / WhatsApp etc for patient interaction. All students have to protect the health information of the patient to maintain HIPAA compliance.
Rotation Details:
- Medical students/graduates will get a chance to interact with patients through Telemedicine (Audio only).
- All rotating students will be given an orientation before the rotation.
- Limited EMR access through Telemedicine will be provided.
- This will help the medical students/graduates in developing their questioning skills with minimal handed information as in a simulated Step 2 CS exam.
- Case presentation and discussing patient management.
- Students are assigned Disability and Rheumatology patients to get a flair of US clinical medicine. They will be assigned cases depending on the comfort level of the student to enhance their history taking skills.
- Office hours will be Monday to Thursday 8:00 am to 01:00 pm CDT (Central Daylight Time) and can be accessed from any part of the world.
- The Attending (doctor) is affiliated with Memorial Hermann Hospital and Caribbean Medical University.
- A letter of recommendation will also be issued based on the merit of the individual. The letter of recommendation will be issued on Private Clinic’s Letterhead mentioning the affiliation of the attending with the Hospital.
Requirements/Expectations from the student:
- Access to high-speed internet and devices like iPad/phones for using software apps like Zoom etc.
- Professional dress and appearance.
- Quiet workspace at the remote location with no background disturbance.

- Valid Passport
- Proof of being in medical school / medical school graduation certificate
- USMLE STEP scores (if given)
- HIPAA certificate
- Infection control certificate
