From Step 1 to the Match, in six milestones.
Step 1
Reported as pass or fail since January 26, 2022. A three-digit Step 1 score exists only if you sat the exam before that date.
Step 2 CK
Many programs screen applications on this score. Practice forms do not all report on the same scale, so log each one on the scale it reported.
US clinical experience
A US letter needs five things in order before it reaches ERAS: a visa, a booking, the rotation, the writing and the upload.
Programs start reviewing
Programs start reviewing applications in late September. You can submit from early September. Letters and scores that arrive later miss the first review.
Interviews
Invitations go out from late September, and interviews run into February. The Application Tracker flags two interviews booked on the same day.
Rank order list
Certify your list by the NRMP deadline in early March. You can change it and certify it again as many times as you need before then. After the deadline it cannot be changed.
What a ten-week delay to Step 2 CK does to your application.
In this example, Step 2 CK is booked for June 25 of the year you apply and moved ten weeks, to September 3. Most results arrive within four weeks. The dates are from the 2027 Match calendar.
Your score now reaches programs after they start reviewing applications on September 23. Programs that screen on Step 2 CK in their first review will not see it. You can still match that year if ECFMG has verified your exams by the rank order list deadline on March 3.
